How Lumens of Truth handles information connected with this website.
About this notice
This notice explains information handled by this website and the external services you choose to visit.
Effective date: October 12, 2026. Last updated: October 12, 2026.
Lumens of Truth, based in Canada (“Lumens,” “we,” or “us”), operates this website. This policy explains how we handle personal information connected with the website and related enquiries. Personal information means information about an identifiable individual. For privacy questions or requests, contact contact@lumensoftruth.org.
You can browse public pages without creating an account. Providing information through an enquiry or newsletter signup is optional, although we may need contact details to respond. Separate notices may apply to other ministry activities or independently operated services.
Information collected when you visit
Our hosting and security providers, including Cloudflare, may process your IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, dates and times, and security or error information. We use this technical information to deliver the website, maintain its operation, investigate problems, and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and abuse.
Enquiries and printed resources
The Contact form prepares a draft in your own email application. The website does not submit, confirm delivery of, or store a copy of your message. When you choose to send an email or telephone us, we receive the contact details, message, and other information you provide. We use it to respond and handle related correspondence. Your communications provider and the recipient’s provider also process that message.
Printed-copy selections prepare an email enquiry to books@afghanschool.org, the Afghan School publication contact displayed on the order form. The draft includes your selected publication, edition, quantity, destination country, and estimated item subtotal. The website does not place an order, collect payment, or store those selections on our servers. Information you send is handled by the receiving publication contact to respond to your enquiry.
Newsletter choices
Newsletter signup opens a separate Mailchimp page. If you subscribe, Lumens and Mailchimp process the information you submit to provide ministry updates and manage your subscription. Sending a website enquiry does not subscribe you through this website. You can use the unsubscribe link in an update or contact us about your communication preferences. Mailchimp’s handling of signup and email-service information is described in its privacy statement.
Giving and external services
Where giving links are available, donations are made on the receiving organization’s or payment provider’s website. We do not collect payment-card details through this website. Review the named recipient, designation, receipt information, and that provider’s privacy notice before proceeding. External sites handle information under their own policies; this notice does not replace those policies.
Book-cover images displayed in our catalog are served through this website. Links to the Afghan School library and other resources take you to separate services. Social platforms may also retrieve an external cover image when displaying a shared link. Those services receive the technical information needed for their own requests.
Cookies and video players
This website does not use advertising or audience-analytics cookies. Hosting and security services may use cookies needed to protect the service; restricted administration uses sign-in and session cookies. You can manage cookies in your browser, although blocking necessary cookies may prevent some functions from working.
Embedded videos connect to YouTube privacy-enhanced or Vimeo players when you choose to load them. The provider may then process technical information, cookies, and player interactions under its own policy. You can leave the player unloaded or use the separate external link. See the Google privacy policy and Vimeo privacy notice. Newsletter signup and other external sites may use their own cookies and measurement technologies.
Sensitive information and ministry stories
Please send only what is needed for your enquiry. Avoid including payment details, identity documents, or information that could expose another person’s location, beliefs, health, or safety. Sending an enquiry does not give us permission to publish an identifiable testimony, photograph, or private prayer request. If information on this website raises a privacy or safety concern, contact us so we can review it.
Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission may contact us to request a review and appropriate action.
Service providers and disclosure
We use providers for website hosting, security, database storage, communications, and recovery. Authorized operators and providers may handle information needed for those functions. We may also disclose information with your permission, where required or permitted by law, or where reasonably necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or threats to people’s safety. Lumens does not sell personal information.
Storage, safeguards, and international processing
Restricted administration uses Cloudflare Access and application authentication. Editorial content and operational audit records are stored in a managed database, with encrypted recovery copies kept separately. Access restrictions and technical safeguards help protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Some database and backup resources are configured in Canadian regions. Providers and their subprocessors may also process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Information processed abroad may be subject to those countries’ laws and lawful access by their authorities. Canadian hosting of one resource does not mean all information remains in Canada.
How long information is kept
Retention varies by system and record. We consider why information was collected, ongoing correspondence, security and recovery needs, and applicable legal requirements when deciding how long it is needed. Provider logs and mailbox records are also subject to the relevant provider’s settings and retention practices. Deleted information may remain in restricted recovery copies; a deletion request may not remove every backup immediately.
Your choices, requests, and complaints
Contact contact@lumensoftruth.org to ask about our practices, change communication preferences, withdraw consent where applicable, or request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information. We may need to verify your identity using information proportionate to the request. Requests are subject to applicable law, including necessary retention and the rights of other people. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide the service you requested.
You may also raise a concern with the privacy regulator responsible for your circumstances. The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada provides information about privacy concerns and complaints.
Changes to this policy
We will post revisions here with an updated date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or seek consent before introducing a materially different use of personal information. A posted update does not by itself replace any consent required by law.
