Please join us in lifting Peter Reynolds and his wife Barbie in prayer. They have dedicated many years to running an educational program called Rebuild in Afghanistan, providing education and practical skills to local communities. Tragically, they were detained by the Taliban in early February, 2025.

Peter and Barbie, founders and owners of Rebuild, have a long history with Afghanistan, stretching back more than 55 years to the days of King Zaher Shah. Peter, who serves as President, and Barbie, Rebuild’s CEO, were married in Kabul more than half a century ago, reflecting their deep, enduring connection to the country.
Peter is 79 years old and has serious health issues that require immediate medical attention. His daughter, Sarah, reports that he has a chest infection, a double eye infection, and serious digestive challenges. He also needs regular medication for his heart after a mini stroke. Without proper care, his life is at risk.
Although the exact reason for their detention is unclear, there are indications that it may be related to their work teaching women with children. Despite these uncertainties, their family remains hopeful that the Taliban will soon fulfill its promise to evaluate their case and release them.

Let us join together in prayer for Peter, Barbie, the Taliban, and the people of Afghanistan. May Peter receive the care and medication he needs, and may both Peter and Barbie be returned to safety and to their families.
Pray that the Lord would soften the hearts of the Taliban to have mercy on this older couple. Please remember Afghanistan as well, where many face hardship. In a time of struggle, please pray that the Lord would rain mercy on the unreached peoples of Afghanistan.
